Super Bowl Menu from Martha Stewart

We cannot escape the Super Bowl. The ads, the office chats, the parties. Oh, yes, the game itself. Even Martha Stewart is on the topic with her “Super Snacks“.

glazed chicken wings

The domestic diva offers recipes for Guacamole, Ultimate Nachos, Easy Chicken Wings with 2 sauces, “Bulldog” hot dogs, Baked Potato Chips and a Chili Buffet Menu (yup, a complete menu with complete instructions and shopping lists).

Here’s the recipe for the chicken wings, which I think are worthy of being enjoyed anytime, football game or not.

Glazed Chicken Wings
Serves 4; Prep time: 10 minutes; Total time: 45 minutes

3 pounds (about 16) chicken wings
Honey-Mustard Sauce or Classic Hot Sauce
Celery and carrot sticks
Blue-Cheese Dip, for dipping

1. Heat broiler. Rinse chicken wings; pat dry. Place on a baking sheet, wing tips down. Broil until golden brown, rotating sheet occasionally, 35 to 40 minutes. Transfer wings to a large bowl. Drain off fat from baking sheet.

2. Toss wings with desired sauce, and return to baking sheet, wing tips down. Reserve sauce in bowl. Broil wings again until glazed, 2 to 3 minutes, rotating sheet once. Toss wings with reserved sauce. Serve hot, with celery and carrot sticks, and Blue-Cheese Dip.

Honey-Mustard Sauce

1/4 cup Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Coarse salt and ground pepper

1. In a small bowl, whisk together ingredients.

Classic Hot Sauce

6 tablespoons ketchup
2 to 3 tablespoons hot sauce, such as Tabasco
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Coarse salt and ground pepper

1. In a small bowl, whisk together ingredients.

Blue-Cheese Dip

1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, such as Tabasco
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese

1. In a small bowl, stir together sour cream, mayonnaise, hot sauce, and salt. Stir in blue cheese. Chill, covered, until ready to serve.

For this year’s Superbowl Parties, I think we need to take a previous Superbowl commercial into consideration; Tide-to-go “Talking Stain” Ad. As everyone jumps around cheering on the teams, drinks and those delicious chicken wing sauces and dips bound to be spilled all over! To keep our homes and our friends clean (and maintaining good impressions), might I suggest having Tide-to-go pens at the party?

On behalf of Tide, I’d like everyone to know that Tide is offering a coupon at Tidetogo.com (stock up and be the “Hero” at the party!)

Also, if you loved the “Talking Stain” commercial, you can vote for it to be named the top Superbowl commercial on CBS.com There will be a show revealing the top choice on Jan 31, 2009. Vote here: http://www.cbs.com/superbowl (Then at 8p.m. ET, watch the show and vote live to pick between the top 3!)

I look forward to debate and discussion.
