Child Funeral Songs

I was looking online today with a friend who has just lost her niece in tragic circumstances. She was trying to find the right music for her sister, for the funeral and we came across this site – Funeral Ideas-  which has the top songs played at children’s funerals. i thought I would share the links just in case there are people out there faced with such a tragic young death.

Gosh, it brought a tear to my eye, there really is something so wrong about the loss of a child. I struggle to cope with death but if then you make it a child….well, my heart goes out to anyone in that position.

Im trying to pick the perfect song to play at my neice’s funeral. My brother and sister in law were expecting their first child which happened to be a girl. My sister in law had complications with her pregnancy and the baby just wasnt growing the way it was supposed to. So they delivered her at 7 months. We were told that there was an 90% chance that the baby would be still born. Amazingly the baby was still living at 13 ounces. We got to spend some time with her before she passed the following day. She was such a strong little girl and I will miss her dearly. Tears are running down my eyes as I remember holding her in the family room. She was so tiny and fragile but man was she strong to have fought for so long giving us the chance to see her alive. Please, if you can recommend a song, I would really appreciate it.

Oh gosh….I am so sorry. The song that immediately springs to mind is Heaven by Eric Clapton which was his song dedicated to his son who died. But songs are a very personal decision. Was this their first child because another thought would be for other children in the family to chose the song?

My heart goes out to you it really does….please let me know what you choose

My first and only son, who was a perfectly healthy 4-month-old little baby boy, just passed almost two weeks ago. I thank whoever it is that posted this list because I’m having a difficult time finding appropriate music for his service. I am so sorry for your loss – there is no greater tragedy in this world than losing a child. I share your pain… I can’t express how deeply I relate to you.

I have to say some of these songs have made me cry. I just lost my son a week ago. I had a very high risk pregnancy. Got pregnant with an IUD, had a Placenta Previa, plus my water broke at 22 weeks gestation. My son, stubborn little guy, held himself inside my uterus fighting to make it to a viable stage of gestation. I was 28 weeks and 4 days pregnant when I had to get a very urgent cesarean section. My son was born March 17, 2011 and weighed 2 pounds 7 ounces. He was fine until he developed a tear in his right lung, after that it went down hill. He bravely fought to live the 12 hours he did live. Bless his heart he just wouldn’t give up. His heart finally stopped beating when I told him “It’s okay London, it’s time for you to go fly with the Angels in Heaven. Mommy will always love you.”

But there is one song I want and cant find it anywhere that I can download it for free, seeing as how I have limited money. it’s Nighty Night by Bjorn Lynne. If anyone knows where I can download a free full version I would greatly appreciate it.

Gone too soon – Simple Plan

One sweet day – Mariah Carey

If I Die Young – The Band Perry – This was the song played for his funeral

One more day – Diamond Rio – I also used this for my own sons funeral

There’s No Address In The Stars – Will & Caitlyn – Played for his balloon release on his 1st birthday

These are all beautiful songs and hopefully will be helpful if you find yourself needing them.
