Rescue Chocolate Sends Relief to Haiti

Rescue Chocolate of Brooklyn, New York, are a unique company (and one after my own heart!). The proceeds from their 100% vegan dark chocolates are donated to animal rescues and shelters all across the United States. Even the packaging on each flavor highlights different concerns and facts about pet overpopulation.

They’ve announced that for the month of January, all proceeds will be donated to the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the World Society for the Protection of Animals, two non-profit organizations that are addressing the needs of animals in Haiti after the devastating earthquake last week.

Current varieties of chocolates include:

~ Choose Me! Chipotle: spicy dark chocolate with chipotle, highlighting the advantages of choosing pets from animal shelters instead of breeders.

~ Peanut Butter Pit Bull: crispy peanut butter and chocolate, countering the negative public image of the pit bull-type dogs.

~ The Fix: plain 72%, highlighting the importance of spay and neuter.

~ Foster-rific Peppermint: dark chocolate with peppermint, highlighting the need for people to provide foster care for shelter animals as they await their forever homes.

Though the bars aren’t currently available for purchase online, the company can be contacted for further purchasing info.
