I wrote about the highly rated All-Clad Stainless Slow Cooker a bit ago. My major problem with being able to actually recommend it (besides the fact that I don’t own one!) is the price. So I decided that I needed to find a more reasonably priced model for you to consider.
Highly rated as a “Best Buy” by several selling sites as well as by Cook’s Illustrated is a model by Hamilton Beach. Most folks who own the programmable Hamilton Beach Set N Forget 6 Qt Slow Cooker are very very happy with it. And there are some who are disgusted, having gotten stuck with an appliance that stopped working after a very short time. There are some reviews for you to consider if you’ll scroll down the page of the above link. The price ranges quite a bit, but even the most expensive of this model is well below the All-Clad. They averaged around $42.
For myself, I have no real need of the programming feature, so I started to look at the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6 Qt Slow Cooker. Averaging a bit less, around $30, there seemed to be an overall higher satisfaction with this model. Just something else for you to think about…do you need that programmable feature or not? If so, be prepared that that’s the weak link in all the cookers I’ve looked at, the feature most likely to cause the cooker to stop working.
