It’s kind of strange for my area to be experiencing a cold snap at the same time the rest of the nation is too, especially with a dip down into the low 30′s that we’ve had the last couple of nights. Until we creep back up to our average temp, I’m taking full advantage of the chill and using it as an excuse for some new hot chocolate recipes!
True, with the use of chocolate syrup it’s not gourmet, but it’s easy enough that you don’t need any special ingredients — in fact, you’ve probably got them all in your fridge and pantry anyway.
Mexican Hot Chocolate
3 tablespoons instant hot chocolate mix
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch chili powder
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup boiling water
In a large mug, mix the hot chocolate mix, chocolate syrup, cinnamon, and chili powder. Pour in the milk. Add the boiling water and stir.
