Create your own chocolates? Where do we sign. Chocri customized chocolate bars offer all the benefits of Willy Wonka (your bar can taste like anything you want – lilacs, bourbon vanilla, even real gold flakes!) without fear of turning out like Veruca Salt. Plus, the company uses organic, Fair Trade ingredients, and donates a portion of its proceeds to DIV Kinder-Kooperation, so you can eat it guilt-free during Earth Week.
Here’s how it works: you go to Chocri’s website, choose from three types of organic, Fair Trade chocolate (white, milk, or dark) and see your wildest cocoa dreams come true, as you choose from more than 100 toppings to add to your bar. When you’re done, you can even name your creation, so the whole thing is personalized when it arrives in the mail.
Blisstree ordered a few bars to try for ourselves, and passed them around the office. Here’s what Jennifer Wright, Deputy Editor of Blisstree’s sister site, TheGloss, thought of her samples:
You know how you sit down and have that first bite of a Snickers bar and you are in peanutopia and it is glorious? That’s a great moment. But what about that second moment when you say “I wish this Snickers bar also contained dried bananas and pretzels and candied lilac?” That second moment is awful! Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about that when you buy chocolate bars from Chocri, because they will let you choose the base (white, milk, or dark chocolate) and all the toppings (they have everything except, sadly, bacon). The only drawback is that those toppings are sprinkled on top of the bar, not mixed in. It’s also advisable to get more than one topping because otherwise, you’ll just be left with a chocolate bar with five or six almonds scattered around the top. But who are we to haggle when we can make our very own gummi bear/goji berry/rice crispie bar?
We concur with Wright’s chocolate-y advice.
