Are chemicals making us fat? When it comes to obesity, food is the most likely culprit, but new studies show that chemicals may also be to blame. According to the Los Angeles Times, a new study showed that obese young girls had far higher levels of phthalates than other children.
Phthalates are a chemical found in plastics, such as your microwaveable food containers and some disposable plastic food containers. Though the studies are preliminary, many researchers aren’t surprised to find a link between the chemical and obesity.
Experts suggest using glass and metal food containers as much as possible, and we’re adding this to our list of reasons not to eat packaged foods.
