What it is: One Bath and Body Natural Body Butter in “You wild coconut, you!” and One Extra Virgin Olive Oil Soap
What’s in it: Mango extract, sweet almond oil, beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil
What’s not in it: Parabens, propylene glycol, petrolatum, animal-derived ingredients, SLS/SLES
What it feels like: The body butter is thick and creamy, like real butter. It absorbs quickly, so a little dollop of lotion doesn’t go very far, but your skin will feel soft for the rest of the day. The soap lathers well, and leaves you feeling clean and smooth.
What it smells like: Neither product has an overpowering scent. The coconut-scented body butter worried us, since heavily scented coconut products make us think of overly tan sorority girls during Spring Break, but the scent is light and fresh. The body soap also has a natural, crisp scent that pairs perfectly with an early morning shower.
What it costs: $9.99 for 7 ounces of Natural Body Butter; $6.59 for 5 ounces of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Soap
Where it’s made: China
Where you can get it: Target stores and online
What we think: We love the eco-friendly packaging – products are all packaged in either cardboard or tin, both of which can be recycled. The body butter felt a little heavy on our skin, but it moisturized well, so we can’t complain too much. The bar of soap disintegrated more quickly in the shower than we would’ve wanted, but it did leave us feeling fresh and clean – much more so than drugstore bar soaps we’ve used in the past. The price is right too; usually we have to hand over a hefty sum to get decent natural products. But it’d be great to see the word “fragrance” taken off the ingredients list, since that can contain hidden chemicals. That said, we’ll take a few negatives along with the eco-friendly packaging, effectiveness, and affordable price.
