Michelle Rodriguez announced at last night’s Sea Shepherd “Sea No Evil” fundraiser that she’ll be joining their next campaign in Antarctica. The Sea Shepherd campaign, if you haven’t yet wasted your time watching “Whale Wars” on The Discovery Channel, is an anti-whaling organization best known for sending ships, led by captain Paul Watson, to interfere with Japanese whaling.
We’re sure her intentions are good, but if you’ve ever watched the show, you’ll wonder why she didn’t just throw some money at the cause instead: The crew seems to spend most of their time crying while they watch whales die after losing battles against behemoth Japanese whaling ships. That said, braving the difficult conditions on board fits Rodriguez’s tough girl act perfectly. “I’m going to go on the next voyage,” she said. “So you guys are actually helping to support the next team to go out to Antarctica and bust their asses on that ship, trying to save some whales. So, I’m going to be one of those people on board.”
She might bust her ass, but we’re not sure how many whalers she’ll really stop.
