Anyone with a slight interest in health knows that brown rice is better than white. But what about black rice? It has some things in common with it’s healthy relative: Both are full of bran, which is high in antioxidants. But black rice bran has the antioxidant anthocyanins. This antioxidant is linked to a lower risk of heart disease and cancer, and improvements in memory. Anthocyanins are also found in blueberries, acai, and grapes. And some health professionals thing black rice might be a better source of anthocyanins that fruits because the fruits are high in sugar.
