Paula Deen, the “Queen of Comfort Food”, is public enemy #1 when it comes to healthful home cooking, according to Princeton students Maya Goodwin and Jocelyn Greer. Their blog, PAULADEENISMS, takes a humorous approach to pointing out just how unhealthy her recipe and food attitudes are on her famous Food Network show, “Paula’s Home Cooking”. (“The two foods that are fixin’ to collide is sugar and mashed potatoes,” and “One of a Southern girl’s very favorite ingredients – melted butter. Can’t have too much melted butter” are two of the choice quotes posted on Goodwin and Greene’s blog.)
The Morning News interviewed Goodwin and Greer about their blog, and it turns out that aside from offering funny quotes and video soundbytes, they’re actually really concerned with U.S. obesity rates. They even think there should be public health warnings on Paula Deen’s shows, and hope that Americans will turn towards healthier cooking guides and education.
Paula Deen is definitely making herself obese, but do you think she’s responsible for the health of her viewers? Is Paula Deen making our nation obese? Tell us what you think in the comments section, below.
