Want a secure marriage? Don’t move to Russia. According to the United Nations Demographic Yearbook, Russia has the highest divorce rate in the world — five for every 1,000 marriages. Russia is followed by Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and the Cayman Islands. For all our hemming and hawing, the U.S. ranks sixth in divorce rates, with 3.4 divorces per thousand people. And when broken down state by state, Iowa, Massachusetts, New York and North Dakota have the lowest divorce rates.
