Maybe we’re just sick of being high-strung and riding the subway, but city-dwellers sure seem to be fixated on the charm of country living: From “garden chic” fashion to farm-fresh dining, the allure of the countryside is breeding trends by the buckets, making an agrarian lifestyle seem far happier and healthier than our urban ways. Most of the trends are just half-hearted, superficial attempts to mimic a romanticized “rustic” lifestyle, focusing more on “distressed” wood furniture and organic cotton blouses than a tangible change in health or lifestyle.
