Today was Oprah‘s last, last goodbye, and while retailers (and retail therapists) are bemoaning the loss, Heidi Klum is swooping in for the kill. The model and TV personality just launched a new lifestyle site for AOL, called Heidi Klum. Following in Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP-y footsteps, Klum’s site will cover everything from parenting and relationships to fitness, lifestyle, fashion, and beauty, but for now, it’s pretty much just fashion and beauty (everything else is “coming soon..”). Heidi’s had her humorous moments on Project Runway, her bubbly personality is charming, and she’s definitely got that whole fashionable bombshell thing going on, but we can’t help but feel a little blah about getting more celebrity advice.
Forgive me if I seem cynical, but this post about Heidi’s first day in the office just doesn’t convince me that she’s a woman I can relate to… Doesn’t she know that bloggers don’t really get to decorate? (Also: Twister? I don’t know how much quality content we’ll be able to rely on out of this one.) Thankfully, Heidi has a roster of experts lined up to discuss hair, makeup, and hair… others are coming soon.
Maybe I’m just jealous (I’ll never be able to sell Blisstree on the basis of my jet-setter lifestyle or Victoria’s Secret-worthy body), but Heidi’s already making me miss Oprah. Even if she relied a little too heavily on making audiences happy with consumer-driven lifestyle tips, I have a feeling she put in some hard-core time in the office. And I’m grateful that she delved into something meatier than hair and makeup (although she did give us Bobbi Brown, and for that, millions of women are grateful).
