The perfect summer foods should be light, fresh, and healthy. They should be easy to make, because at this time of year, none of us can stand the heat in the kitchen. And while our primary concern is eating for health, the perfect summer foods should also be diet-friendly, for ‘tis the season of sundresses, cutoffs and bikinis.
This summer, I’d like to invite you into my kitchen as I attempt to execute perfect summer snacks, drinks and meals. Some of these will come from cookbooks or websites, but many are of my own creation. I’m no professional recipe writer, but I’ll attempt to share my culinary successes as best I can — bear with me if my measurements are quite so precise. My culinary instincts are good, my patience for spending a lot of time or effort cooking is low—so you can be sure any recipe I make and share will require minimal time, effort and skill. Because, come on, it’s summer—the living should be easy. And so should your food.
