Healthy Road Travel: Pack Your Own Car Cooler

What is it about road trips that makes us want to reach for the sodas and hostess cupcakes, candy bars and potato chips, gummy sharks and moon pies? Is it just the tedium of driving that gives us that urge to snack in the car?

Obviously, the best way to ensure healthy eating options, and ward off the urge to stop for snacks at BP, is to pack your own food: food that’s easy to eat while driving, keeps you energized, won’t lead to crashes, and fills the need to snack. Here are my favorite functional foods to pack for the road.
