Jillian Michaels is on the cover of this month’s issue of Fitness, showing off her killer arms and abs in a bikini (she may have left Biggest Loser, but it would appear that she has not left the gym). She spoke with the magazine about leaving the show, career plans, and her body, divulging even her worst insecurity: her ass. She’s spoken about her war with cellulite back there before, but her newest interview sheds some light on how she deals with her imperfections.
When asked about her least favorite part of her body, she said:
My ass! I hate it! There’s cellulite on it, and no matter what I do, I can’t get rid of it. The reality is that it’s connective tissue. I can starve and my boobs will go and my face will get gaunt, but I will still have cellulite.
Pretty much all of the women I know can empathize with her body hangups (supposedly, it’s Catherine Deneuve who first voiced the common sentiment: “When you get older, you have to be ready to trade your ass for your face”), but most of us could stand to learn a thing or two from Michaels’ attitude about the whole thing:
It’s not so much about aesthetics for me these days. Instead, I think a lot more about the mark I’m going to make on the world than about the back of my ass.
It’s easier said than done, but realizing that there are more important things than physical imperfection — especially if we’re working out, eating well, and making smart choices for our health — is bound to make any woman way happier than having a knockout bod.
