We’re not the most Kardashian-savvy women we know, but today we have to applaud Kim Kardashian for her outright confidence in her curvy figure.
Almost as well known for her bootylicious figure as Beyonce and J-Lo, the 30-year-old reality star told Health & Fitness magazine the secret to her positive body image is embracing her natural figure:
I’ve never aspired to be a size zero. Dress sizes are just a number. I love the curvy look, and I especially love my butt.
Not only does the future wife of NBA star Kris Humphries love her voluptuous rear end, she does exercises to accentuate it, including squats and lunges—even in her hotel room when she’s on the road. Back home in New York, Kardashian works out with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson (who has also worked with J-Lo and Angelina Jolie), who helps combine strength moves and cardio intervals. Peterson said he keeps it real with her and focuses on what’s right for her body:
The thing I love about Kim is she’s very aware of her curves and realistic with her goals. There’s no point in her trying to get wafer thin—that would be unrealistic – so instead we make sure the curves stay in the right place and are nice and tight.
And when she has those days when she’s not motivated to work out, it’s not some loud hip-hop music or gawking onlookers at the gym that get her going–Kardashian says it’s another curvy role model that keeps her in line:
When I can’t be bothered I just think Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé! I think her curves are beautiful.
Among the sometimes questionable examples from this reality star, Kardashian reminds us of something we can all use more of: Being secure with our bodies is a choice:
I remember feeling insecure at a young age because I developed earlier than the other girls at school. As I got older I learned to embrace my curves and accept myself. I focus on staying positive and accepting myself the way I am. Your imperfections are what make you beautiful.
