Last night on the Late Show, David Letterman gave us the scoop on his top 10 least popular ice cream flavors. ‘Banana Schwarzenegger Shriver Split’ and ‘Mint Chocolate Tick’ were among them, and of course, ‘Michelle Obama‘s Low Fat, No Sugar Added, Gluten-Free Obesity Initiative Sorbet.’ Funny, Dave.
Seriously though, if you want a more popular frozen dessert during these dog-days of summer, stick with non-fat frozen yogurt. It has just 90-100 calories per half-cup with no saturated fat. If you can’t get past the freezer section in the supermarket without adding something a little more sinful to your cart, look for a slow-churned ice cream. According to EatingWell, more air is incorporated into churned ice cream, giving it one-third the calories and half the fat of traditional premium ice cream. Half a cup still only has 100-110 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat.
And don’t forget this vegan dark chocolate fudge pop recipe.
