When it comes to small gifts—stocking stuffers, Secret Santa presents—people tend to stick with the tried and true: Candy, cookies, candles, Christmas ornaments. My mom still sends me a St. Nicholas Day stocking loaded with the an apple, an orange, a handful of nuts and about five pounds of chocolate. While I appreciate the tradition (thanks for the sock monkey ornament, mom!), it got me thinking about slightly less sugar- and kitsch-laden stocking options; there are plenty of small, healthy items that would be great for stockings or Secret Santa exchanges.
