New York City’s Serendipity 3 restaurant has unveiled its latest menu option: Le Burger Extravagant, a burger that the Guiness Book of World Records has dubbed the most expensive in the world. For a mere $295. Could a hamburger possibly be worth that much money? You be the judge once you read what’s in it:
According to Serendipity 3, it’s a “mix of Japanese Wagyu beef infused with 10-herb white truffle butter, seasoned with Salish Alderwood smoked Pacific sea salt, topped with cheddar cheese–hand-formed by the famous cheesemaker James Montgomery in Somerset, England, and cave-aged for 18 months–shaved black truffles, a fried quail egg and served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll, which is topped with a blini, creme fraiche, and Paramout Caviar’s exclusive Kaluga caviar – a beautiful golden caviar with a buttery, nutty taste and large pearls from the Huso Dauricus farm raised in Quzhou, China.”
If that doesn’t sound worth $295, keep in mind that it comes complete with a solid gold diamond-encrusted toothpick!
Anyway, this is not Serendipty 3′s first go-around with super-expensive foods. They also offer a $1,000 sundae on their menu. We can’t be too upset with them though–proceeds from this most expensive burger in the world go to the Bowery Mission, a homeless shelter in New York.
What do you think? Would you order it?
If so, just make sure to call ahead–you have to order it 48 hours in advance.
