Camping season is nearly upon us, which means around the country, people are snatching up bags of high-energy sustenance, like trail mix. Unfortunately, most store-bought mixes are loaded with sugar and salt, and are basically the opposite of healthy. Instead of picking up the Kirkland-brand mega-sack, why not try to make your own healthy, homemade trail mix?
Homemade trail mix, which is usually free of added fillers and other stuff that the pre-made stuff contains, is a great snack for long drives, hikes, or other outdoor activities that require quick, healthy fuel–but don’t sink its many benefits (it’s cheaper than buying it pre-made, it’s usually healthier, etc.) by adding a lot of crap.
This summer, keep your trail mix free of these expensive, unhealthy, unwise ingredients and you’ll be a happy camper.
