By now you’ve almost certainly heard about Jennifer Livingston, the WKTB news anchor who responded to viewer Kenneth Krause, who wrote in to criticize her weight earlier this week. Her on-air defense of her weight (and ability to set a good example for her community, whatever her size) was inspiring, and those who came out of the woodwork to support her on social media have been downright heartwarming. But her brother, Ron Livingston, is also letting everyone know he’s in her corner.
According to People, the ‘Office Space’ actor defended his sister in a statement released last night:
My sister Jennifer … brings an exceptional dedication to her job, her family, and her community, and has been a role model of mine for many, many years.
The actor goes on to say he’s “extremely proud” of his sibling, who is also an Emmy-winning journalist and mother of three daughters.
Despite Krause’s insistence that her weight makes her a bad role model for her community, we’ve been inspired by her anti-bullying message to viewers, and even more inspired by the number of people who’ve chosen to support her efforts against stigmatizing people (women, in particular) for their size.
Getting her brother’s public support, and drawing more attention to the issue with his celebrity, can only be a good thing.
