What do you get when you cross a politician, an Olympian and a very sassy meme’d out expression? Why, an excellent photo opportunity!
On Wednesday, McKayla Maroney and members of the 2012 U.S. Olympics gymnastics team visited the Oval Office. Maroney, whose “not impressed” face rose to meme stardom this past summer after she was photographed on the podium receiving a silver medal, rather than gold, was greeted by the President. As a result, this excellent pair of expressions was captured by a White House photographer while others laughed on.
According to USA Today, Maroney said of her rise to stardom, funny face included: ”I don’t think you can tell somebody, even before, ‘OK, I’m ready for this!’ The whole world pretty much got obsessed with it… Every single day I get asked by people to do ‘the face,’ so I’m bringing it along with me now for the rest of my life.”
While it initially appeared that she was simply being a poor sport, she not only apologized for her seemingly bad attitude, but also has turned it into a laughable experience. Plus, if even the President is taking part in this, does that make it our National Meme?
