Sadly, the above Ryan Gosling resolution is fake — and most of the celebrity resolutions made public are decidedly more mundane. Heidi Klum wants to eat more fruits and vegetables. Katie Couric wants to write more handwritten thank you notes (of course she does). Lauren Conrad wants to be more punctual and drink more water. God bless Emma Watson for learning French in order to eat baguettes; punctuality, produce and hydration are important, sure, but one can’t help but wish for celebrities to have slightly less boring New Year’s resolutions than your average kindergarten teacher.
Couric on Twitter: In 2013 I am going to try to declutter my life. Floss more. Write more handwritten thank you notes. What about you??
Lauren Conrad: 1. Be more punctual! 2. Get organized. 3. Drink more water. (via)
Emma Watson: “I always have the same New Year’s resolution: to speak French fluently,” Watson told Marie Claire UK. “I get a huge wave of nostalgia when I come into the Gare du Nord. There’s such an emphasis on culture, art and music … And I’ll do anything for a warm baguette.”
Tara Stiles: “Meditate daily (if only for five minutes) whether I am traveling or at home. And to continue to follow my intuition across all aspects of my life: business, personal and family.” (via)
And a few vintage resolutions, via Maria Popova:
Susan Sontag, 39, in a 1972 diary entry: “Kindness, kindness, kindness. I want to make a New Year’s prayer, not a resolution. I’m praying for courage.”
Marilyn Monroe, 29, in a 1955 resolution list: “Try to enjoy myself when I can — I’ll be miserable enough as it is.”
