Dear Ashton Kutcher, Frutarianism Is Just Another Bad Movie Diet, Not Method Acting

Dear Ashton Kutcher, We know you’re playing Steve Jobs in the biopic jOBS. You don’t have to go all Method actor and actually follow Jobs’ fruitarian diet and get yourself hospitalized because of it for us to believe you’re a good actor. Love, all health bloggers and fans of your 2003 movie Just Married.

But seriously. Ashton Kutcher told USA Today that he was hospitalized as a result of his attempts to follow a fruitarian diet like Steve Jobs. He said:

“First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to, like, severe issues. I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain. My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying … considering everything.”

Ironic, because Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011. Frutarianism has different definitions, but is generally thought to include a diet that consists of mainly fruits, nuts and seeds, without vegetables, grains, dairy or animal products.

Personally, I had no idea Jobs had ever followed a fruitarian diet, though I knew he was a vegan for much of his life. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word fruitarian, though, is that scene in Notting Hill when Hugh Grant goes on a series of blind dates and one of the women is a fruitarian…anyone else? Haha.

Anyway, I get that Ashton wants to be accurate and reflect the man he’s playing, but a fruitarian diet seems like an extreme sacrifice for a role. Sadly, it seems like crazy crash diets and eating plans are now de rigeur in Hollywood: more and more, extreme weight-loss is praised as the ultimate commitment to a role. Look at Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto. There’s no word on whether or not Ashton was trying to lose weight or just get into the mindset of Steve Jobs, but regardless, I wish actors would value their own health (and the examples they set to the public) over looking a certain way for a role.

What do you think? Am I the only one who would rather actors stayed healthy rather than perfectly resemble the characters they’re playing?

I totally agree with you. Let acting remain acting. It need not be stretched to the extent of emulating some fad diet.

Fruit was our natural diet created food by God in the Garden
of Eden. This food has proven to be a natural potent cure against cancer. The
Grape Cure Diet by DR Johanna Brandt, is one of the world’s best known cures
against such a severe disease. If fruit can cure cancer, it can cure any
disease. Many cases documented in the Medical Journal of South-Africa as stated
in this book, has helped even patients suffering with diabetes. It has brought
great relief to many people who have been suffering worldwide. Many cancer
institutions and clinics today worldwide use grapes to help their patients. Another health pioneer Essie Honniball had
been cured from tuberculosis in her young days, medically tested for 15 years
by world class universities in RSA. Documented results show that fruit indeed
proves to be very beneficial to the human body as they could only find strength
from her and a test group of people also documented over a couple of years.
There exist little data because the science is still on the brink of great discoveries.
Though great breakthroughs have been made such as the discovery of the healing
properties of fruit. Logically if food is so strong that it can cure cancer,
and heal the body to such a great extent, the food is truly superior above any
other food. Fruit contains (if eaten in a large variety) all the minerals,
vitamins, phyto-chemicals, amino-acid building blocks, fiber, water and sun
energy we need. There is not one single vitamin or mineral that cannot be found
in fruit. That is false information. Even B12 grows on fresh organic fruits out
in nature. It is by human intervention and bad farming that the quality of
fruit may be lost. Fruit also contains natural sugars, in the right package. It
is not alone just pure sugar, but contains water and fiber to act in the
correct way when entering the body and the blood stream. The design behind
fruit as a food cannot even be placed next to any human made foods. Nature /
God is superior and we can never think to improve on that. What is a high sugar
diet is the modern SAD (Standard American Diet) / Westernized way of eating
with super high and completely unnatural amounts of sugar which also is high
GI. Why does world statistics show that 75% or more deaths worldwide ( is dietary related?
The no one death cause is heart disease, second to that is diabetes and then
      cancer. Sugar, fat, processed foods,
meat, dairy are the culprits together with an unfit, non-sunshine, non-active
stressed out lifestyle. If the entire world were eating fruit I would say yes
too much sugar, but what is too much sugar? Processed sugar in all the foods of
the world that all the people consume. Fruit is low GI and the sugar cannot be
compared even to human made processed sugar. There are not one case documented
medically where fruit caused candida, diabetes or cancer. If fruit did not
cause any of these ailments, why should we avoid fruit if they are not the
culprit. The latest textbooks from Loma Linda University suggest that fruit is
the MOST healthful food from all the foods you can possibly find. They state
that fruit is the BEST source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber and that fruit Is
irreplaceable. This is documented in The Encyclopedia of Foods and their
Healing power. They conclude that fruit is also high in anti-oxidants, flavonoids,
phyto chemicals and that living on fruit for long times are super beneficial.
They mention also what fruit does NOT contain: cholesterol, purine (uric acid),
antinutritive factors, and toxic substances. Furthermore they conclude that
fruit detoxes the body, regulates intestines, prevents cancer, avoids cardiovascular
disease and is synonym to health. They mention that NO other type of food has
so many preventive and healing properties. They see each fruit as a piece of
medication! The National Cancer Institute of the USA states that 5 or more
      servings are highly recommended. They also have a section on fruit and weight loss;
it is indeed the BEST weight loss food found in nature. No wonder I lost 24kg
on eating only fruit. Then there is Professor Arnold Ehret who had documented
super natural findings of fruit, study it in The Mucusless Diet and you will be
surprised. Then there is The China Study – the largest plant based and health /
nutrition study ever conducted by Dr T Colin Campbell with a PHD – who concluded
that a full on fruit diet is indeed the most powerful, most healthful, most
optimal for humans. Fruit is fortunately on the foreground of science today and
many will try to treat fruit lesser for what it really is. Please do the
research. Read up, on long term fruitarians and the actual studies you will be
      surprised. Please be informed properly.
