Notice none of my recommended bedtimes would get me the much-lauded eight hours (going to bed at 10 would net me nine hours sleep; going to bed at 11:30 p.m. means seven and a half hours of rest). This is because sleepyti.me works by counting backwards in sleep cycles from the wake-up time you give.
The average sleep cycle lasts about 90 minutes; wake up in the middle of a cycle and you’ll want to dive right back under the covers, but wake up in between your natural cycles and you’ll feel alive alert awake enthusiastic—even more so than if you’d slept more hours but woke up between cycles.
