Stacy Keibler Has No Idea What Comfort Food Is

stacy keibler foodThe March 2014 edition of Women’s Running magazine hits newsstands tomorrow with celebrity Stacy Keibler on the cover. Keibler is famous for WWE pro wrestling and hosting The Supermarket Superstar among other things like having a hot bod and dating George Clooney.

Apparently Kiebler dished about what her favorite comfort food is. When you think of comfort foods, you probably think mac n cheese and other cozy, carb-y, fulfilling treats that make you feel good in your belly and in your soul, but not SK:

“Her favorite dish that feeds her soul these days is a 25 calorie cup of Cauliflower Mash (her take on garlicky mash potatoes).”

Record scratch sound. What? If that is her comfort food– the meal she turns to when she needs to feel all warm and cozy, what is she eating normally? Dry spinach? The garlicky mashed potatoes that cauliflower mash is meant to imitate would be a real comfort food; cauliflower mash is just a healthy, albeit tasty, side dish. Saying a 25 calorie cup of pureed veggies is your comfort food is like saying your sinful indulgence is adding a squeeze of lime juice to your seltzer or eating a section of grapefruit. I’m all for eating healthy and everyone eating whatever the fuck they want, but this is just silly. Either she’s being dishonest or she is very confused about what makes a food comforting.

My comfort food is rice pudding, by the way. And my healthy spin on it is chia seed pudding with almond milk, cinnamon and stevia.

Sorry but cauliflower does not feed your soul. Maybe if it is smothered in cheese or if there is a pile of mashed potatoes on top of it.

Anything can be comforting with enough molten cheese.

comfort food = cookie dough, not mush anything.

We are totally on the same wave length re: cookie dough.

Or, y’know, maybe she’s just going with what’s comforting for HER. Just like there’s nothing wrong with craving something greasy or cheesy or fattening just for the same of being fattening, there’s also nothing wrong with sticking with something lighter. To each their own.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with loving healthy food–I just think it’s silly to classify cauliflower mash as a comfort food.

Cauliflower mash can be delicious if you know how to make it right. It’s not my go to comfort food but it is super yummy.

    • Joanna Rafael

      It is crazy yummy.

Maybe it comforting knowing that she cares for her body. I know that’s when I feel best. I’m not sold that comforting must be bad.
