Thanksgiving is all about tradition, old recipes being passed down for generations, and coming back to the same few foods every year… unless you don’t feel like it. I’m fully in favor of spicing things up. Pumpkin pie is great and all, but why not try something new this time around? These 11 dessert recipes will please your party without inducing any yawns.
Why do desserts become infinitely more desirable to me when they’re bite-sized? I’m not sure I can answer that. I can, however, declare my undying love for these tiny little pies.
Caramel and sea salt are a combination made in heaven. I never dreamed it could get better… and then I saw this recipe. Adding chocolate? And cheesecake? I might as well drop dead right here and now.
Fudge is an amazing invention. We discovered a way to pack enough butter and sugar to make a whole pan of brownies into TINY LITTLE PIECES. If that’s not American, I don’t know what is.
4. Apple Pie Cake.
Why haven’t people been doing this forever? Taking all the good parts of pie and just turning them into a cake? It’s easier to serve, it’s easier to eat big quantities without noticing, and it’s easier to put together.
THIS IS SO PRETTY. This is almost too cute for me to want to eat it. Almost.
Yes. Yes, yes. I want to start giving out awards to people who come up with creative desserts on the internet… and this person wins a bonus prize for the awesome name.
I’ve always believed that chocolate needs to be a bigger part of Thanksgiving, and this looks like a great place to start. Look at those layers! It’s like they’re asking to be your friends!
Food coloring is an incredible thing. With the help of a little bit of magenta dye, you can turn a rest-of-the-year dessert into a Thanksgiving dessert. Amazing.
A dessert that you can put in the slow-cooker and then forget about? That won’t take up time and spice in your kitchen while you work on all the other dishes? That comes out looking this good? SOLD.
Again with the tiny little pies! This recipe combines most of my favorite things: salt, sweetness, miniatures, and apple pie. Someone needs to make these for me, ASAP.
11. Acorn Treats.
My neurotic mind is a little bit worried that little kids will fall in love with these and then try to eat real acorns that they find outside, but the rest of me is really excited to try to make these. They’re so cute! And potentially dangerous! But mostly cute!
