No I was not aware of that - I don't know much about the history of the Olympics. I did watch something this Spring and that's when I learned that they ran the events with no shoes. It may sound silly, but that had not occurred to me before that. Ouch. I would hate to think of running without my Asics. I'm a Michael Phelps fan - he's on my wallpaper right now. I'll be rooting for him. I don't just root for the US - I like the stories they share about the atheletes, gives me a different perspective. Thanks for commenting. But the Olympic ideal did not die. There is a book by American scholar David Young’s titled ‘A Brief History of the Olympic Games.' Do read it. Who do you think shall win the maximum medals? ;) Pretty decent post.
