10 Activities for Beach Days When It Rains

The past two weeks, we’ve had more rainy days than sunny ones in New Hampshire. Sometimes it’s been drizzly all day. Other days we’ve had sunny mornings and thunder storms throughout the afternoon. Generally, too, the temperatures have been lower, too chilly for comfortable beach days.
What do you do when your beach days, whether in a backyard pool, a community pool, the nearby river, a lake, or the ocean, turn into weather that curtails outdoor activities?
Here are some suggestions. You can find books with ideas for more or give directions for some of these.
- Take a trip to the library and get more books to read
- Play story related games using imagination
- Put on your raincoat or simply splash in mud puddles in shorts and bare feet
- Get out the board games and card games
- Write stories or plays
- Go hiking if it’s only misting
- Have fun cooking
- Explore various types of art
- Organize photos and have fun scrapbooking
- Learn how to do magic tricks
Share with us some of your rainy day activities or how you spend beach days when it’s rainy.
