10 Reasons To Have Sex Tonight

Did you know that good sex offers up an array of healthy benefits that actually do a body good?

According to Joy Davidson, PhD, a New York psychologist and sex therapist “Of course, sex is everywhere in the media,” she says. “But the idea that we are vital, sexual creatures is still looked at in some cases with disgust or in other cases a bit of embarrassment. So to really take a look at how our sexuality adds to our life and enhances our life and our health, both physical and psychological, is eye-opening for many people.”

1. Sex Relieves Stress

2. Sex Boosts Immunity

3. Sex Burns Calories

4. Sex Improves Cardiovascular Health

5. Sex Boosts Self-Esteem

6. Sex Improves Intimacy

7. Sex Reduces Pain

8. Sex Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk

9. Sex Strengthens Pelvic Floor Muscles

10. Sex Helps You Sleep Better

Now if someone could just come up with the perfect solution to overworked mothers who might be able to find time to feel a little “in the mood” I think this study might just have merit.

I’m wondering how many husbands helped fund this study?

    Hooray for sex!
I hate it when my husband is on the night shift. We hardly even SEE one another during the week, so we have to get all the fun in on the weekend. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. But in the morning he is just getting home, and I am just waking up, and we are both too tired to get into it, but I always make time to talk to him, connect with him, before he shuts down and I start up. It’s always important to make time for one another. Social engagements, kid activities and work aren’t worth anything if you don’t have love.

You know, if I push past the i am too tired, normally I am so glad I did. I make it a habit , to prepare myself mentally so I can be in the right mood, and you know..afterward? I am usually so energetic that I have a hard time falling asleep… ;)

Did anyone notice that “love” is not one of the ten reasons? The closest we get is “improved intimacy.” But even serial killers have been known to get intimate with their victims. It seems that love is no longer considered important by the “beauty industry” and its merchants of sex and cheap “how-to” advice…

My husband has been out of the country since the end of November. Even the title of this post makes me want to hump the couch. OK. Maybe it isn’t THAT bad, but you get my point. Through my exhaustion, I’d do just about anything to have sex with my husband at this point.

NexHorus – I think the assumption here is that the ’said’ couple does love each other enough to be in a commited long term relationship/marriage thing.

I don’t think Gayla’s suggesting we all go have a one night stand for health reasons.

  6. lol at Maria. Sorry your husband is around, but your comments made me laugh. Absence does make the heart grow fonder.

I’ve found that since my husband’s vasectomy, our sex life is more enjoyable. There’s just something about not having to worry about birth control or an unplanned pregnancy that helps things out.

It’s ok Karen. I was laughing when I wrote it and chuckled again just now as I read it again. :)

  8. Heidi says:

Oh great, like my husband needs any MORE reasons that we need to have more sex! How about I’m tired and sleep is more important than any benefit sex might give me! Sorry, but geez, this study was definately written by a man, don’t you agree???
