1. She reminds me of my mother.

2. She kind of reminds me of my mother-in-law.

3. She reminds me of myself actually.

4. She’s ballsy. She stood up to all the mean girls who trashed her and the perverts who made pornography of her and the media who mocked her. She did it with grace, complete sentences (unlike our current resident moron) and with HUMOR and a big wide smile on her face.

5. She refuses to stay in the box society made for her. In fact, she pretends there is no box.

6. She believes in God and she believes God has a plan for HER. So to I.

7. Seriously, she breast fed her baby in the limo and green rooms before those speeches. Let me repeat – she breast fed her baby on the campaign trail. That’s cool. That’s freaking amazing.

8. She realized kids are portable and brought them with her to campaign instead of refusing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue her dreams “because she had kids.”

9. She’s ambitious.

10. She’s beautiful AND smart. Yes, world, women can be pretty AND smart. We don’t have to pick one.

In fact, the ONLY thing I don’t like about Sarah Palin is her politics this year.

In 8 years she’ll be more mature and more experienced and qualified-enough if she can keep her nose clean in Alaska.

Barack Obama is the LAST man I will vote for before a woman serves as President of the United States.

So some Democratic women better step up to the plate and groom themselves for a solid run in 8 years. Hear that Emily’s List and The White House Project? It’s Sarah Palin if you can’t train a female superstar to step up to the plate and win in 8 years. I’ll even send you money and help you groom her, but I’m not voting for another pro-woman MAN.

I WILL vote for Sarah Palin in spite of her politics to break the glass ceiling on 2016.

In fact, the way I figure it – if Barack Obama does what he says he’s going to do, then I will be satisfied with my equal pay, universal healthcare, family medical leave insurance, and solid standing in the Supreme Court, and will have healed the economy by using cash to pay as we go.

The Republican Party will have reinvented themselves and brought in some young blood like Sarah Palin and kicked out the crazies who are against birth control or I’ll be menopausal so it won’t be that important to me.

Obama will have healed the racial divide and sexism will be the final social frontier (Ok there will still be homophobia, but it too will be less pronounced in 8 years) and I’m sorry people, I don’t give a crap how much you personally hate her, feel offended by her, feel jealous of her, feel defensive by her outward morality – I NEED to see a woman in the highest office of that land.

More importantly MEN need to see it so we can earn their damned respect. My children need to see it, both my son and my daughter.

If that woman is Sarah Palin, well, she’ll be highly entertaining to watch for 8 years. We might learn a few useful tricks from her about how to have it all. I’ll be watching her.

I hope you vote for her because you think she’s the most qualified person for the job… not simply because she’s a woman. Affirmative action is a double-edged sword. I worked for the EEOC when Clarence Thomas was fighting Affirmative Action. It was quite an experience to watch both sides of the battle unfold.

Unfortunately, it’s a fact that those who break the mold have to be smarter, better, more qualified and more perfect than those who come after. The standard breakers have to withstand extreme scrutiny and any misstep is a failure for the entire group.

I hope a woman will emerge in the next big election cycle who can do all those things. I’m not sure Sarah Palin can.

  2. Tracee Sioux says:

Well, if Democratic women keep waiting for “the perfect one” it will never happen. Personally, I’m not sure Democratic women are all that into winning or actual equality – I think perhaps their too obsessed with “fairness”.

I can vote for someone because they are a woman because I think women will govern differently and we need that in this country. I’ve seen people vote for way stupider things frankly.

People can make their “reverse sexism” argument until they are blue in the face. When it’s 44 to ZERO in favor of Male presidents it’s still just plain old sexism.

  3. Patty says:

I agree with solomother, I hope you vote for her because you “agree” with what she stands for and not JUST because she is a woman. That’s just plain stupid. And I have to disagree with you, she is NOT smart, not by a long shot. She is manipulative and a bulldozer. You sound like you need to go to the other side, repugs, because you stated you will “be menopausal so it won’t be that important to me.” Well, that’s exactly how the repugs feel. Instead of helping mankind alike.

  4. Tracee Sioux says:

well, I’ve seen stupider reasons to vote for someone.

And actually I don’t agree that putting feminine thought in power is a “stupid choice.”

I think it’s idiotic to vote for a 45th man because you don’t want to appear pro-woman.

She’s ambitious and I like that. She’s got no self esteem problem.

I don’t equate my – or any other woman’s – physical autonomy to abortion. I think it’s past it’s prime as the reason we have control over our bodies. Nor do I think that Sarah Palin is that extreme in the area. Besides, it will be safe because Obama will appoint 1-2 justices.

  5. homemom3 says:

Tracee- I’m on your side here and absolutely loved her during the campaign. I do hope she runs in 8 years, I think she would really run it differently. She’s got everything going for her, she’s been in a high power field, helped her little state out and is a mom. I can’t think of a better person to run the country. She’s the one I’d like to have as a role model for my girls.

  6. Michelle at Scribbit says:

Judging from her interviews once she’s been back home I think she got nailed pretty hard by the media and campaign staffers and it disillusioned her a bit. I think it’s been good experience though and that she has bigger plans now. She’ll be interesting to watch. Though I’d really be happy if the media left us alone for a while–I’m really tired of our politics being under the microscope. Between her and Ted Stevens (may he RIP finally!) things have been crazy. Just wish Don Young would have lost his congressional seat as well–the crazy old fart.

  7. Tracee Sioux says:

I think Mormons felt a lot like that with Mitt Romney. Bummer he lost, but stop criticizing us now.

  8. Wait… why are we waiting EIGHT years?

I love everything you’ve said, Tracee… except that part.

I’ve noticed that yes, while recent presidents have gotten voted in for a consecutive term, let’s not forget that we don’t HAVE to keep this guy in office for 8 years… we can get him out in 4 if need be… and I personally think the need, will be.

Love this post, love Sarah Palin, and I’m hoping she gets into office in 2012!

  9. Tracee Sioux says:

I like this guy. I voted for him.

I also think 4 years isn’t enough time to get things done. We should keep Presidents for as long as possible if they are good.

I want to give him ample opportunity to turn things around.

I’m hoping Republicans REINVENT themselves because right now I think they show a lack of insight, a lack of responsibility for our current economic situation – not to mention a lack of understanding of how it occurred.

No, 4 years isn’t enough time to get an agenda and it’s not a long enough “time out” either.

  10. crystal says:

Wow, I’m really surprised at this post… I thought that through all the news pieces and interviews with Sarah Palin over the past 2 months everyone could pretty much agree that she was a poor choice for a Presidential candidate. Besides, Hillary’s going to run again in four years…

  11. I agree. I think Sarah Palin amazing! I think this has been a great experience for her and now she has something to work toward.

  12. Alex says:

I’m sorry, did you just say she was smart? I’m all for women in power but how about someone who doesn’t wish America is more like it was in the fifties

  13. crystal – Hillary can’t run in 4 years unless Obama steps down. She’s a democrat… he’s a democrat… think about that.

Alex – If you’re not going to expand upon that statement and get into specifics about what she supposedly said about the 50’s that is appealing to her, then please explain what’s so bad about family morals and values? Do you really have a problem with women (who now have the right to choose, and didn’t in the 50s) who stay home while the husband works out of the home? Or vice versa, since you’d like to “get modern” about things – a husband who stays home while the wife works outside the home?

I’m sorry, but for the exception of limiting women (which she clearly doesn’t believe in) as they did back then, I personally don’t see much wrong at all with the way this country was back in the 1950’s.
