10 Things You Should Know About Me
Thanks for stopping by my new blog and reading my first post. I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.
I am:
- The father of 3 1/2 year old boy/girl twins.
- The husband to exactly one wife.
- A computer programmer. The boring kind that works exactly 40 hours a week and has no chance of getting stock options or making a computer game.
- Someone who notices and comments on new decorations in the house after they have been there for months.
- A little afraid every time I have to pick up our hamster. I’d probably bite some big giant hand that reached into my house and tried to pick me up, too.
- An Iowa Hawkeye season ticket holder for nearly 18 years (I’m only 31 years old). Up until this year, we were in the front row, 35 yard line of the visiting team. This year we moved to front row, 35 yard line of just behind the Hawkeye bench. Go Hawks!
- Someone who is often told to not forget my lunch as I head downstairs in the morning only to have my lunch handed to me as I start to pull out of the driveway.
- Former Air Force Arabic linguist. Marhaban wa kaifa halak.
- Owner of over 140 college credit hours but have only managed to combine that into a general studies associate degree.
- Someone who has pictures of myself doing a two-handed reverse dunk from when I was in high school. I figure those could come in handy when the kids make fun of me for being slow and old.
As the title of this blog says, I will be talking about careers and kids and how to balance between the two of them. The easiest way would be to become the manager of your kids’ Hollywood careers, but if that’s not an option for you let’s talk about other ways to make it work.
I am not one of those bloggers that only likes to hear his own voice. Feel free to agree, disagree, challenge and suggest in the comments. I enjoy the input.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to hear from you soon.

Oh yay, I get to be your first commenter.
#4:Totally me as well. And everyone’s like, “But you’ve walked by it about 50 times!” Sorry, I honestly didn’t see it before. It’s not just a clever means of getting attenion. #5 Totally freaked by hamsters since my friend’s “Ernie” bit me when I was 12. Wow, didn’t realize that I remembered his name. Must’ve been traumatic. #6: Illini fan here, despite the fact that I was forced kicking and screaming to becoming a resident of the Buckeye state about 16 years ago. Makes it awkward walking around in my Chief gear, especially since we lose so much (football, anyway), but I’m a loyal fan. #7:Me, too. #8: Air Force brat. I only know German cursewords.
Welcome, Mike! Fun to have you here.
Funny. I’m an Iowa fan living in Illinois for the last 24 years.
Thanks for making sure the comment system actually worked over here.
Happy to help out with my long-winded response.
I get to travel back to the illustrious Land of Lincoln later this month. Can’t wait!!!!
I found the new blog. All is well.
Welcome to B5 Mike! It’s great having you around and I hope to link to you often from Babylune.
