100 Things I Learned From Motherhood – #95

Make Spending Time With Them A Priority

In this life, our family’s needs and our job or volunteer work often takes precendence over any wants we might have. While that is normal, and probably healthy within reason, there are some times when you just have to plan to ‘waste time’ and do something you love together.

It doesn’t have to be much. Yesterday we popped out those refrigerated already cut sugar cookies, baked them and iced them. The entire shebang took 10 minutes, and was ever so cheap since it was ‘on-sale’ halloween cookies that we were baking, but they loved every minute of it.

Even the baby took part.

Take time everyday to give them some real time, not just ‘maintenance time’ (ie diaper changes, feeding, etc.). Show them how important they are to you by taking their wants into consideration as well as their needs. And, your children *do* want to spend time with you.

Enjoy it, their childhood will be over before you know it.
