11 year old writes book about Alzheimer’s Disease.

Joseph Voight’s grandmother, Dixie Morton Vaughn, has Alzheimer’s disease. And for the past four years, she has been cared for by Joseph’s mother.

Joseph started writing a journal about his thoughts and experiences with his grandmother’s disease. And from this, a hand written book ‘My Grandma has Alzheimer’s too’ emerged.

The manuscript has yet to find a publisher. But if you want to see a page or two, check out the full article Helping Kids Cope.

  1. Thanks for finding this information. It’s a great resource for youngsters who are trying to cope with a grandparent’s Alzheimer’s, when the grandparent they knew becomes someone different. A daughter, visiting her mom in the nursing home where my mom resided, said to me, “Mary, isn’t there anything to help kids cope? My children don’t understand why their grandmother doesn’t know them any more. And I’m at a loss how to explain.”
