14 Reasons to Keep a Visual Journal

When I read an article today called 14 Reasons Why Artists Keep Visual Journals, I knew I simply had to share it with you. For me, the reasons are just as good for anyone, but I’m sure artists will appreciate them, too. My favourite has to be the third last reason:
“Above all this safe haven of personal expression can become for you if you let it a source of relaxation. A ready breathing space in a busy way of life…
…Your journal should never be a chore but something you look forward to as a little breather in the busy pace of life.”
Please add any other reasons you think should be on this list in the comments section below.

To share with loved ones. What better way for them to understand what is important to you … as well as what bugs you
For posterity. So your grandchildren and their children can get a glimpse of what life was like in your day.
To understand yourself better. Journaling forces you to bring ideas and feelings from your inner self to the surface. A visual journal gives those expressions real oomph.
Hi Eileen,
Thanks for those extra reasons to keep a visual journal. I can only agree. I particularly like the last reason. Thanks so much for commenting.
I love visual journals. I miss making them.
I should really get started again some time.
Hi Shai,
I hope you do, even if it’s just one small page a day. I just know you’d love it.
