3 more causes of chronic pain

February 12, 2008 by Marijke Durning, RN
Filed under Diseases & Conditions

Treating chronic pain is difficult enough when the cause is known, but when the cause isn’t known – it’s hard to even know where to start. That’s the problem with the first syndrome listed today: CRPS.

Complex regional pain syndrome is one of these disorders. It’s not a common disorder, but it is a very real and painful one for the thousands or millions of people around the world who have it.

Celiac disease – when treated – doesn’t cause pain. The problem is, many people with celiac disease don’t know they have it and experience pain, bloating, and diarrhea as a result.

Painful feet isn’t something we’ve really discussed yet but if you have plantar fasciitis, you know that painful feet affect much of how you are able to do do your daily activities.

Thank you for helping to get the word out about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), aka, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). This debilitating pain affects quite a many people all across the world.

I too suffer from this horrible condition. It makes me happy to see the word getting out. The importance of spreading awareness helps not only the people who suffer, but the doctors that treat, and the caregivers that support. If a doctor is aware early on and aggressively starts treatment, that patient has a higher percentage of reversing or going into remission.

    Always pain free hugs,
    Christine

  2. thank you for leaving a comment Christine. Would you consider being interviewed for a Company’s calling feature? I’ve never spoken with anyone with this disorder and I think it would be a good way to draw a bit more attention.

Surprised to see so little on your site about CRPS/RSD. RSDS.org is the site of the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Association of America. I suffer from this horribly debilitating syndrome which has no cure which can leave sufferers, very often, hopeless. Hope you can add more on this site about it and perhaps others with this problem will become available to chat with.

  4. Hi Nani,
thanks for your comment. I do have some information on RSD on this blog. Did you read the interview with Cynthia Toussaint? Tomorrow there is an audio interview that is scheduled to be posted. I also have in the queue several articles on RSD for over the next couple of weeks.

I do post information as I find it so if you are able to pass on some more, please feel free.
