Some of you may not have heard of some of the illnesses or disorders that cause chronic pain; some of you may be living with them and hoping that someone will recognize them.
Here are 3 more illnesses that may surprise you as causing chronic pain:
Sickle cell anemia is a disease that affects mainly people of African and Mediterranean descent, but it can affect others as well. People with sickle cell can have crisis, severe pain that often requires intravenous medication for relief.
Phantom limb pain is something that many people have heard about but not much is known about it. Phantom limb pain can severely affect the quality of life of someone who is experiencing it.
Lupus is an autoimmune disorder. According to the Lupus Foundation of America between 1.5 – 2 million Americans have some form of lupus but they feel that the number may actually be higher. The most common type of lupus is the most serious: systemic lupus erythematosus. The vast majority of people with lupus are women, up to 90%.
