4-time NBA All-Star/Philadelphia 76ers coach, Maurice Cheeks lives with gout

Gout is a very painful condition that falls under the umbrella of arthritis diseases and it can affect anyone – even 15-year NBA veteran Maurice Cheeks, a 4-time NBA All-Star and head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Maurice Cheeks spoke at a press conference that was held to promote National Gout Awareness Day, sponsored by the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES). He spoke of the intensity of the pain and that he hadn’t realized what gout was and how painful it is until he experienced it himself.
