Earthly Protestation

It has come to my mind frequently, and to my ears as well, that people are doing so much to the environment that eventually it (the environment) will begin to “doing” back. My own personal beliefs on the subject aside, it makes me wonder what form that “doing back” would take.
Perhaps the world would begin to get warmer, to bake us away. Maybe the earth would start to shake like a wet dog. Perhaps the earth might even start to try scouring us from its surface.
Strangely enough, all three seem to have been happening at ever increasing levels. For instance, the number of earthquakes is up, the number of tropical storms and volcanic eruptions has multiplied, and the earth’s polar ice seems to be declining in mass.
This is just a thought, you understand. I have my own opinions–opinions that are a bit different than this–but everyone else talking made me think about it. Who knows? Perhaps the earth is protesting for another reason all together. (I’d sure want paid vacation if the earth and I switched places…)
