5 Reasons To Be A Thrifty Collector

Okay, by being a “thrifty collector” I don’t mean turning into a hoarder! I mean learning to be creative with where you find your craft supplies.

- Saving money is always a good thing!
- Second hand shops, recycle centers (my city has a reuse center) and thrift stores can be great sources for fabric, yarn and craft supplies.
- It’s better for the environment to find stuff, rather than have to buy new.
- Keep your eyes open in unlikely spots – you don’t necessarily have to spend $$$ in a craft store to get what you need.
- It can spark a creative idea to work with new materials.
Just remember, it’s not thrifty to buy stuff you know you’ll never use, just because it’s on a really good sale…

Great REMINDER for all crafters! Upcycle!
The last Thursday of the month is SET OUT YOUR JUNK trash pick up… as I leave for work I fill the back of my jeep with GOODIES!
I have to admit I am very into thrift shops and sale items to add to my fabric stash.
One womans size top has created INTEREST in many many many different objects I have used the fabric on, in or around.
I have used 1/2 of a leather bikers jacket to make a very interesting mixed media CLOCK for my daughters new apartment… and have friends who send me THINGS… they would look at these THINGS and say: What Would Debe Do?
That sounds like a ton of fun Debe
I once snagged a $150 butcher block that someone had dumped next to the recycle bins – the only problem? A few dog chew marks on one leg. I can fix that!
Chew marks?
Tossed for Chew MARKS? That only adds to the interest of the item!
lol… like dust is bling at my house!
