5 steps to control chronic pain

Not every treatment helps everyone, so sometimes we need to use trial and error to find something that works for us. The trick is not to give up. While a treatment may not get rid of all the pain, it’s often possible to find something to minimize the pain or make it bearable.

Here is a downloadable (PDF) booklet called Five Steps to Control Chronic Pain. It’s a bit simplistic, but it may have information that you’ve not yet read or tried. It’s worth having a look or passing on to someone who you feel may benefit.

The write up says: “There are many steps to help alleviate chronic pain, ranging from doctor-prescribed medications to more unconventional methods. This brochure provides a number of ideas to assist patients in controlling and minimizing persistent pain and associated suffering.

The 5 steps briefly covered in the brochure include: 1) relaxation and meditation, 2) humor and positive thinking, 3) sleep and exercise, 4) diet and nutrition, and 5) medication. There also is a list of several resources where more thorough discussions of these topics and specific recommendations can be found.”

If you read it, let me know what you think. I’m curious to get some reactions.

Yes – healing pain, managing pain, and easing pain is a multi-faceted approach. There is no magic bullet. But there are many things you can do mentally, emotionally, physically to live a great life. Unfortunately, not one formula fits everyone. It can be a trial and error process to find the recipe that works for you. Keep trying, don’t give up, and assemble all of the ingredients that work for you to ease pain.

    May comfort be yours!
