5 Ways To Open a Jar of Babyfood

5. Twist and Tug
Usually this is how I most often start. I thought I could just tear through the top with my teeth, but that ended badly.
4. Slam it on the Counter
Often this makes the baby laugh (look at Mommy’s face turn red), but is rarely effective.
3. Spoon the Lid
No, not like at night with your dh… Pry the lid up with the edge of a spoon. A little popping noise signals success. A big popping noise is not a good sign.
2. Use a rubber mat
Those circular thingies that you get free from local businesses are easily any kitchen’s 2nd best tool. What’s the first best tool? Anyone cooking besides me.
1. Ask DH To Help
He feels so helpful when I ask for his assistance. Unfortunately, this often ends in a crushed spirit when he has to hand it to my 3 year old for assistance.
Yeah Honey, you loosened it up for him.

I normally run jars under hot water. It makes everything expand which makes the jar easier to open. And then I hand it back to my wife when it hasn’t moved yet, but it is loosened up and ready to open.
You’re funny Robyn. I agree with Mike. If I can’t get a jar open, then I run it under hot water and it pops open fairly easy.
Heh heh Mike. you loosened it
Or you could just break the jar and run it through a strainer
No seriously, as the mom of twins I learned how to make my own babyfood. Gotta love the blender
I always said I would make my own food, but never really did. I had so many coupons that I didn’t pay much for it. My son was into eating solids pretty early anyway.
We made our own (I’m an over-achiever LOL). I’ve actually got a juicer so you can feed it through there if you want it uber perfect, but blender is much easier (as is just cooking the heck out of it and mashing it with a fork). The juicer was a pain.
Funny note, that’s actually a pic of mayo in Europe.
