50 high school students possibly exposed to HIV virus

Students at a suburban St. Louis high school headed to the gymnasium for HIV testing this week after an infected person informed health officials that as many as 50 teenagers were exposed to the virus that causes AIDS.

While officials refused to give details about the person or how students possibly became exposed, the district is consulting with national AIDS organizations as it tries to minimize the fallout and prevent the infection – and misinformation – from spreading.

A spokesperson for the Health Department said the possibilities range from sexual activity, intravenous drug use, piercing’s and tattoos. Nothing has been confirmed.

I’m not sure if it’s the fact that news comes to us quicker because of cable television and internet or if kids really are growing more and more stupid as a side effect of the entitlement epidemic. Either way, parents need to crack the whip, sit on their kids harder, enforce stricter rules, communicate more – and if they can’t commit to those things, don’t have the freakin’ kids!

Parenting is NOT easy – it’s without a doubt, the toughest job you’ll ever have to do. And if you don’t do it well, you will be producing another wart on the ass of society.

I can only hope and pray that I’ve taught my kids to be smart enough not to engage in anything that might cause them to stand in a line at school waiting on an HIV test.

While the kids are pretty stupid, could this have been a product of abstinence only education? If the kids don’t learn how to protect themselves, and their parents don’t teach them, how will they know?
