7 things – the Professional Edition

7.gifDJ at Making Life Easier in Home and Business tagged me for the 7 things meme, and, since I’ve answered it a number of times at Busymom.net, I thought I’d give it a shot over here, and, make it about work.

So, without further adeiu:

1. While we were dating, my husband to be and I worked in a adolescent psychiatric hospital. Good times. I learned very quickly that it wasn’t a place to wear a skirt to work.

I was the lifeguard (they had a pool), the unit clerk, a mental health worker (I was in nursing school), and, the cook for a while since the hospital was brand new and we had only one unit opened.

2. I am an emergency room nurse by trade and master’s degree, but, I haven’t worked in the area in a long time for several reasons including my safety now that I have a family, and, the fact that I need a work schedule more in line with school hours.

3. I once flew on a medical helicopter where we transported a Hatfield and a McCoy at the same time.

4. My first job was in the warehouse of the department store where my dad worked. I ran the snack bar, and, I cooked up to 100 boxes of hot dogs a Saturday. I still have trouble with hot dogs to this day.

5. I worked at a department store part time when I got out of nursing school because my new job as a nurse was only 30 hours a week.

I had no idea what I was doing. I was OK as long as you paid cash or a store credit card. After that, I was lost, but, I didn’t want to tell anyone because my supervisor was a girl I had gone to high school with, and, here I was brand new out of college, she had never gone, and, I couldn’t grasp some basic aspects of retail sales.

I am more cut out to be on the consumer end of that process.

6. I was the head counselor at a camp when I was 19. I did a darn good job, but, as a parent now, I wonder what people thougt when they left their kids there for 3 weeks, and, a child was in charge.

7. I’m still looking for that elusive job from 10-2 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays that pays benefits and full time salary for me to go shopping.

Please let me know if I can send you a resume.
