7 Weeks in Limbo…Stuck in Vietnam

June 20, 2008 by Marcie

An adoptive family is currently in limbo because their child, who is now formally adopted, has not been issued a US Visa. The wife and mother is living in Vietnam while the husband is in the US working. He will be returning back to Vietnam to try to bring his family home.

The law in Vietnam currently states that Visas are obtained after the adoption is finalized, similar to many other countries, often times names are changed and dates are different, etc. However, Vietnam will be changing their policy to specify that Visas be obtained before US citizens travel to complete the adoption process.
