(www.weightingline.com) — You know that one key to losing weight is eating less. But equally important, if not more so, is eating the right foods. Do you know what’s healthy and what’s not? Sometimes the line is blurry, especially since everyone is labeling their goods “organic” and “all natural” even when it’s not necessarily the case.
Here are 9 good-for-you foods to eat when you’re trying to lose weight, excerpted from the list of 100 Best Foods for Women at NursingDegree.net, along with my comments on each:
- Tortillas, especially whole wheat ones.
- Water. Are you sick of hearing this one yet? I know I am! But it’s so true…
- Fruit smoothie. Use low-fat yogurt, fat free milk, soy protein powder, and your favorite fresh or frozen berries for a delicious snack, dessert, or breakfast on the go.
- Whole wheat bagel. Should you have a bagel every day? Probably not. But go for it with whole wheat a couple of times a week.
- Romaine lettuce. You know, the kind that’s actually green instead of greenish? Dark, leafy greens have iron, vitamin A, and all kinds of things that are good for you. Way better than that iceberg junk!
- Veggie burger. Some are so good anymore that you can’t even tell they’re not meat. Seriously!
- Dried papayas. I like dried mango, too. Just check the label to see how much sugar is added.
- Spaghetti squash. Mmm, eat the flesh and use the guts to substitute for pasta.
- Watermelon. Does it get any better in the lazy days of late summer?
What’s your favorite weight-loss food?
