According to this article, Nearly Half Of Eye Injuries Occur At Home, “nearly half of the 2.5 million eye injuries that occur annually in the U.S. happen in and around the home, and 90% of these injuries could be prevented if more people used protective eyewear.”
Today being the 4th of July and a special day in the United States, more eye injuries will occur because of inappropriate use of fireworks and inadequate eye protection. “The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that after injury to the hands, eye injury is the most common reason for fireworks-related hospital ER visits,” the article’s author wrote.
There are, of course, other dangers to the eyes in the home. Have a look at the article for more information.
