Imo Shochu

Imo Shochu is Japanese sweet potato spirits.  Clear and bright with a very delicate aroma.  It is nice straight or with ice but it wasn’t until last weekend that I truly fell in love with it.  I was introduced to Shochu and hot water and it has opened my eyes.

Mixing almost equal parts of Shochu and hot water, you end up with a glass of smooth delicate flavoured warmth and the temperature makes the aroma explode as you sip.

The occasion, was one of those wonderful relaxing nights celebrating the end of a year and another cycling season with some of my team mates, and it was so good that we are trying to fit in another end of year party before new years.  Trust me Imo Shochu and hot water on a cold night with good friends is hard to beat.  Be warned it is powerful stuff and very easy to drink too much.

Satsuma imo shochu is delicious. I am producing it in Peru for exporting. Would you like to try it?
